Default ZEN for Broadband

Hi,

I've been with Pipex for years for Broadband but recently they've blocked virtually all P2P ports and those that are still allowed are severly throttled.

So i've decided that I want to change supplier so that I don't have these restrictions.

I have heard that ZEN are meant to be pretty good and I can get 8mb for around the same price as I'm paying Pipex for 2mb now.

Does anyone have any experience with them. Is the migration process likely to be fairly easy?

Thanks
Chump

I migrated from PlusNet to Zen, they were incredibly helpful and everything went perfectly smoothly. Not a single outage and superb speeds <touches wood>.

I've been a reseller for them for a few years and have put quite a few people on various packages. Never heard a bad thing about them and all of them are still customers. One of the few companies which do exactly what they say they do. Customer service is superb, once spent about 3 hours trying to configure a wireless router for a customer, waited until she went to pop the kettle on, called them up and it was sorted by the time she came back.

Have a look at adlsguide.org.uk for impartial advice.

Hope it helps.

Just as a matter of interest what speed are you running at? I'm less than 1 mile from the exchange and am about 4Mb. Seems a bit low to me??

at off peak times i can get 750k/sec ish. Does go slower at on peak times though. Distance is a guide but line quality is the main factor to determine speed (Signal to Noise ratio etc)

Hello

I've been with Zen for years, and recommend them to everyone. They are more expensive than others, but are superb. The only thing if you are mentioning p2p is that they have a cap of 50gb per month (more than enough for me).

I'm also looking at Zen. I & most of my customers are on Demon - who are truning into a nightmare with tech support now in India. Today, they've just blocked access to the Customs & Excise export website!

Hello

They have introduced the 20gb and 50gb cap on their products but they haven't introduced any throttling or port restrictions.

The reason for choosing Zen is purely that you get consistently good service, high speeds and no downtime.

But the caps and throttles do not apply to existing users who remain on the same home package.

You can choose to have a /29 block of ip's for free and they will also change the reverse lookup on your ip's if you want

We have the office 500 package at home. Its a bit more expensive but has been great and a 1:20 connention really helps. Not had a single problem in 3 years.
