Agreed Kiwi and M$ are in this situation where everyone expects more and more (of things they neither use nor need) and as a result the feature set and the codebase grows to gargantuan proportions. Office is a great example of doing a million and one things that most users probably only use 10% of.

<wonders how many updates a month for the first 2 years this OS will have>

They are overpriced for sure - I didn't buy the MAC mini cos it was value for money thats for sure.
I wish they'd support OSX on beige box PC's. I've had it running but it doesn't have a lot of driver support. I'd rather not have two boxes on my desk.
But yes, it's very nice to use. The KDE / GNOME boys should be aiming for something as coherent as the OSX desktop.

Despite my initial teething problems with the Mac Mini, I was mucking around some of the O/S utils / apps last night, very well put together, very good s/w integration.
The only ones I know are metrosexual city boys that have ipods, smart cars/cabriolets and use 'product' on their hair.
We have one at work and its rank compared to the dual opteron dual core that we use for rendering tasks even with photoshop.

For those who want both MS Windows and MAC OS 10.5.

Not sure how you would stand when Vista comes out.

What's the cheapest Mac?
What's the cheapest PC?
Like for like comparison with something that can handle web browsing, e-mail, home photo & video editing and music. those seem to be the most common things that the majority use computers for. Don't bother about games as Xbox/PS2 should be used for those.

Mac Mini = £449
Dell Dimension 1100 = £250
Dell maybe **** for some, but that price includes a 15" LCD, printer, keyboard and a mouse. Spec is Intel Celeron 3Ghz, 256Mb RAM, 80Gb disk, 100Mb NIC, DVD/CD-RW, Windows XP.
Mac includes 256Mb, 60Gb, CD-RW, Mac OS X, Bluetooth, WiFi. Then you need a screen, keyboard and mouse.
A quick squizz on eBuyer and you can get similar PC specs for not much over £350.
