Question Which PCI-E SLi graphics card?

Right.....
Budget is around 150 quid, ive seen a couple but the one that really draws my attention is the XFX 7600GT XXX edition 256mb (600mhz gcu, 1600mhz memory) but what is the competition like? ive an X600XT extreme at the moment but now have an SLi board so I want to utilise it.
I think all are similar with 12 pipes, but this is the first time ive seen an NVIDIA card thats of similar price to the 1600XT range that seems to be more powerful
Am I barking up the wrong tree here?! or for the price (approx 150 quid) is the XFX 7600GT XXX extreme edition acutally a good buy?!

It sort of answers some of my questions but i think the 7600GT was only released this month? (9th march??) so its not on their benchmark test but it sort of slots in between the 6800 and the 7800 so......

Build myself a new pc last week and that was my choice (just the normal one, not the xxx version). Seems to come out on top of the similarly priced ati ones in the reviews I looked at.
Got an sli mobo too so will probably go down that route in a few months too when prices come down a bit.

www.lowestontheweb.com £133 posted which wasn't too bad. They were pretty scarce last week when I was buying with them being so new...

Ive got an XFX6600GT XXX and am looking to upgrade as mine is about a year old now and was roughly the same price at the time.

Only problem I had is the fan makes a lot of noise on occasions. Its like its clogged with dust etc but even when cleaned out it makes some serious noise which comes and goes. You can change the fan but I would imagine that invalidates your warranty.

Might be worth checking on forums like overclockers etc to see if this is still a prob with XFX cards.

Id go for the XXX as its not much more over the standard.

Simon.

BTW the XFX 7800 GT is currently on sale at Overclockers for only £176 inc vat. Id get one of those quick before they go as only £20ish quid over your budget but a lot more performance for your money.

When money was a bit tight I bought a XFX 6800 GS Extreme XXX Edition, £152 from Overclockers UK knowing I could SLI at some stage. A few months later I went down the SLI route with another 6800 GS. I get over 10,000 in 3Dmark 05 which I think made the upgrade worthwhile.

7800GT is a bargain, failing that 6800GS is a very good card as RIP says.

PS. I like the XFX XXX editions, got their 7800GTX 256 and 7800GTX 512 XXX editions, both are stonkin'!

LOL - nah, spent the money a new car stereo instead

The 7900GTX over the 7800GTX 512 isn't a big enough leap for me, waiting for G80 (July) - might go SLI if I have my 2407 by then
