Can't work out why this router's not working.....
Installing a mate's ADSL Router (Belkin ADSL with Wireless G).....
Got it installed, can access the control panel.
I've got the chap's username & password for his broadband.
The lights on the front indicate a CAT5 connection, ADSL connection, but no internet connection.
It's got a wizard for Freeserve/Wanadoo, and of course, it states that everything's OK, but the router actually states "No Internet"
I've taken some screen grabs of the setup pages - I have a feeling the problem may lie with the DHCP setup......
As can be seen from the piccies, I've got the router set up in DHCP mode, but the PC set up in static - the screen grab was taken at this point for data purposes only, as I'd already set it to "Obtain IP automatically", prior to this, and it hadn't worked.
Once, I've got this sorted, I can sort the Wan access
Any ideas where I've gone wrong?

Sounds like a problem with the communication with Wanadoo. Can you check the logs on the router? Are the username and password being accepted at the Wanadoo end?
Your network side of it looks fine to me.

Have never configured for wannadoo, but
I would definitely set the IP settings on the comp to "obtain ip automatically".
The dns in the comp settings could well be confusing the issue.
IMO reset the comp to obtain automatically, reboot.
After reboot, open a command prompt
type in ipconfig/all <enter> then see if your getting an ip assigned
( you should no problem ) between your range of 2 and 10, you should get 2.
next type ping 192.168.2.1 <enter> you should get 4 replies
you now have the confidence that the pc is talking to the router.
try the internet, if still not working...
I would remove your DNS settings from pic 2, and set to
"Automatic from ISP"
then save settings and power cycle router ( sometimes not required)
if your IE doesnt get a web page, try using the command prompt
ping www.bbc.co.uk you should get 4 replies, thus u actually do have contact with outside world.
err make sure you dont have any firewalls enabled to start off with.
only introduce them after you have good connections
( should of said this first)
cheers

I always use the router address as the 1st DNS server.
It also may not like you hardcoding the pc's address within the dhcp pool
But if you can hit the admin page there shouldn't be any real comms problems to the router locally...
Have you tried the BT test account ?
Username: bt_test@startup_domain
Password: (ignored)

Nice one guys - popping round to his place tomorrow, so I'll have a look.
Strangely, when I've put his old ADSL usb modem back in, it all worked fine.....
Definitely something my end!!

When I put my router in, I followed its instructions to the letter. Even the bit about ringing NTL to let them know and give them the mac address (was sure I ddin't have to, and was right).
After about 2 hours of going through all the setting to no avail, I said b*llox to it, and hit the "restore factory settings" box.
Then it all barked into life!!!!!
Needless to say all the instructions are now in the bin!!!

Turns out that the router was fubar'd.....
Tried running through it with the tech support guy. No reason why it shouldn't have worked.
He's got another one now, so will have a play on Thursday.

Found out what it was - ****** firmware was wrong!!!
Didn't make sense when the chap said that he'd taken it back to the shop, and saw loads of opened boxes in the returns bin.
Called Belkin, "oh yes, you need to update the firmware"!!! ARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!! another manufacturer to add to the "list" grrr.
Still, all up and running
