Question X-Box.........is it true that........

...........Lots of them suffer from the same fault, which occurs about 18 months after purchase, causes the box to be unable to read the games, and can't be fixed?

My lad's box does this, and he has several mates in the same boat, and they have read this on some internet site.

not sure how old mine is but it gets plenty of use i would think that its hours used that would affect when it goes wrong - not its age...

It was an error with some of the early disc drives. Should be able to get a replacement on ebay.

Never had a single problem with mine. Was playing outrun 2 on it the other day after not even switching the box on for months. Forgetten how great it was, one of the most under-rated games ever I think.

Yeah that's an infuriating but very fun game. Drives me mad when you get to the the end of the 'classic' game and your car pulls up about 20 metres short of the line when you run out of time

Challenge modes are a lot of fun too.

Right - I'm off to switch the xbox on again methinks!

Yep, as above it's the drives, MS used 4 or 5 different varieties, and as for them failing after modding them thats cause of the copied discs, thats why you get a bigger HD and load them on.

samsung drive is the best for reading, you can tell it apart from the others as it has 2 round holes extra in the tray

Yeah but you still always want another go! You know if you don't make it on time it is always YOUR fault. The controls are perfect.

The best bit is when you get the music on from 1986 as a option

I seem to prefer Splash Wave these days. Some of those challenges are rock hard.

You can be playing the same one and as you improve so does the AI! They always stay just out of reach.
