Default Quietning down system sounds on W2K

So, I use the PC for playing MP3s, but am getting annoyed by the system sounds being so loud everytime an alert pops up etc.

Now I don't want to turn them off, and the same volume (wave) also controls the music volume.

Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is to open each of your sounds in an audio editing program and reduce their sound levels, but this may take you a little while.

However, you may be able to batch edit them.

Hmmm, now that's an idea.

I do have musicmatch installed on here somewhere which IIRC has a batch volume leveling feature - lets see it works on .wav files

cheers
