Has her iBook got built in Airport ? If not it may need an Airport/WiFi Card. CLICKY.
Just a thought, as I haven't delved into wireless yet, and my aging G3 Powerbook will surely need this adding.

iBook G4 - It must be OSX...
Go to the Apple Men (top left) - Choose About this Mac.
Click More Info. Click Network on the left.
Is there any mention of an Airport card?
If there is then great - if no, be careful what you buy, not many usb wi-fi cards or sticks will work...
Quit the System profiler
Assuming you have it.
Is there an icon at the top right of the menu bar that looks like a 1/4 of a pizza. If the bars are grey, you are not picking up a signal, if they are black, it is and your internet should be working.
If you have black bars but the network is not working, try bringing up Safari and typing in http://217.79.111.23/
If you see Scoobynet then the internet is working but your DNS servers are not. Go to System Prefs -> Network -> Airport.
(If airport is not in this list - choose network port congfig from the 'Show:' pull down menu, click the new button, type airport and choose 'Airport' from the port pull down.Press OK and choose Airport from the Show pull down.)
Just quickly check the pizza slice again on the menu bar, if your network appears select it and all should work.... (It may not...)
Back in the System Prefs window. If nothing appears in the list of networks then click the '+' button under the empty list.
If your network is broadcasting its SSID (name) it should be in this list (but then it should have been in the list when you clicked on your pizza to begin with..
Um - I might be writting this badly
so maybe you can check the above and report back and I'll carry on sprouting meaningless rubbish
It would be easier to wire the iBook first to the router to ensure the connection is actually working before trying to get both wireless and the connection going at the same time, it will make tracking the problem easier...
Hope some of this helps...
