Xbox 360 has died
just in time for Christmas, cheers i'm getting my DHL box in the post this week and just to rub salt in the wounds i have to send them my hard drive aswell, guess what, it doesn't come back with any of my saved games on it and i have no way of getting them off it as it won't even boot up now (i have 3 red lights indicating a hardware failure ) it doesn't fill you with confidence it has to be said.

Don't you get the feeling MS should have waited and held off release like Sony are ?
Instead they rushed it to market with mediocre games and bad reliability.
bet there's a fair few disgruntled kids this Christmas waiting for the 360's to be repaired.

Sony are rushing their release to get it out in Japan in time for next Spring. Rumour is that they've been having loads of hardware stability problems as well, so I fully expect the first batch of PS3 machines to have teething problems.

I heard that they had to reduce the clock speed in the PS3 cause of overheating problems.
Least MS seem to be very quick to replace faulty systems. Not that that's any consolation to Flat4.

To be fair to Microsoft- how many Xboxes have they produced (not enough to go around, I know) but we're talking millions a few dodgy ones doesn't seem to constitute a reliability problem (are there any know and documented problems), although it is very upsetting for the people concerned and I do sympathise.

NS04 is correct, how many XBOX360s are working perfectly fine, nobody knows because no-one reports back on the working units, your always going to hear the bad stories, and half of them are because theyve been sat on a carpet or ontop of other hot AV equipement.
Not saying flat4 has done that as Im sure there is the odd failure thats unexplainable

i've done 8 hours on PGR3, a few DVDs and that's about it, i made sure it was well ventilated but it just looks like it's a pure and simple hardware failure of some sort

mine's working pretty well.
must say its louder than the WRX @ 7,000 rpm though
the DVD playback seemed a bit dodgy though, it seemed to be a bit jerky, had to watch it on the old black box

Does it really matter if its ontop of a TV or on a carpet? the temperatures at the moment are hitting nowhere near what its gonna be in the summer!

Mine did that, got a new one within 5 working days. Can't fault them really for that in all honesty!
Did exactly the same as yours.
Been fine for 2 weeks now though

i'll keep this thread updated, was picked up on Wednesday by DHL and received today, i even got a crap email to keep me posted; "We have received your Xbox at our service center. It is our priority to process your Xbox in a timely manner and to get it back to you as good as new. We will contact you as soon as we are finished so you can get ready to get back into the game!" thanks

Get to B&Q while they A/c units on the cheap, before the summer rush
So, does it sound like a hairdryer?? - I'm just curious as I "may" get one after all the hysteria has died down

mine has done the same, 3 red lights is a software prob that cant be fixed so they are sending a replacement and picking the old one up today, gutted about losing the hard drive nearly completed cod2 and pdz, and was doing really well on pgr3.
not too worry, looks like the ps2 will have a few days left in it.

guess what was waiting for me when i got home tonite one new Xbox 360 & power supply plus my old hard drive (wipped but i was expecting that) can't fault their service though the one i have now was manufactured 29 Nov as opposed to mid Oct for the one that broke on me, interesting that they replaced the power supply though
