XP/Fax - can anyone help?
I have a PC with no formal RS232 plug which has an internal V92 Modem which was on COM1
I've installed a wireless net with a Router, but the V92 no longer works as a faxmodem or for a DUN.
Diagnostics show:-
1) the V92 has been reallocated to COM 3
2) XP can talk to the Modem
3) COM 1 is working, but doesn't show the Modem
4) The (old)Connection shortcut fails as does "Find Target" from its Properties tab.
And:
I Can't reinstal the Modem on COM 1 because manual setup of a new (DUN) internet connection is blocked by all options except "connect using broadband..." all being greyed out when I use the 'new connection' wizard.
Anyone know how I can bypass this??
TIA
Phil

I take it the Internal MODEM is still showing as Active in Device Manager?
If so you will need to change the port from COM1 to COM3 in your present DUN so that it works through that COM port.
