Question Advice on photo printer settings please

I'm buying a photo printer and have a Canon Pixma ip5200 in mind. I've seen test prints and they seem really good, however, the colours seem a bit over-saturated.

Can you alter the printed colours so that they more truly represent the original photo, i.e. using software?

Do Canon printers come with any such software?

This is my first experience of photo printers, so I'm in the dark!

Thanks in advance.
