I know its possible to have these dual sim things but is there anyway of having a mobile which can receive calls from 2 numbers coming into it without having to switch the phone off and on to change between sims ?

Yes. Orange do it.

Think it's called line 2 or something. Though I may be wrong.

I have it on my Orange phone. One business number and one personal number - each with a separate answerphone (and separate billing/statements). You can also forward (e.g. to answerphone) each line individually. Both lines are always active for incoming calls, but you have to select which is your current outgoing number (press HASH for a second or so to switch).

It is part of the GSM standard, but depends on your network provider as to whether it is implemented.

Also, it depends on the (foreign) network in which you are roaming - so, for example, my Line 2 doesn't work in Ireland. However, you can forward Line 2 to Line 1 if you need to stay in touch.

If it's only to receive calls.... .then you could always use the call diverting option on one phone to divert all call to one.....

get the wife to divert her calls to my phone when we are out together... save taking both...
