CD & DVD Drive Disappeared?
Hope someone can help me, as i'm tearing my hair out!
Rebooted my PC yesterday (XP Pro, SP2) and went to load a DVD, but nothing happened. Went into windows explorer and both my CD and DVD drives have vanished!!
I've tried everything but can't get them to come back.
They are on seperate IDE cables which makes it even stranger! They show up in the hardware section with an error saying that windows loaded the drivers for the drives but couldn't find the drives.
I've tried uninstalling them and letting windows find them again, which it does (even down to the make/model!) but they are still shown as drivers loaded but not found.
They show up on the BIOS screen too btw.
Does anyone have any ideas apart from reinstalling the OS as I would like to not have to go through the hassle!
Thanks.
