Steve,

Have a look at the APC Open Frame offerings:

I take it Sun still ship the rebadge Shark racks then... Could always compare ordering from Shark direct?

Personally I've not had great experiences with cheaper racks, tend to be flimsy which causes issues when trying to slide a system in or out - or even installing.

But i guess this is minor, as it only causes problems when moving the units or when Sun come to work on them.

I'll try and find out which we use now and get back to you.

they weren't out at the time . From our tests the 440's are better bang/buck than 480's as appservers anyway ( we have both ). Not tried a 490 yet

490's pretty good, or rather the dual core aspect is.
We currently tend to go for:

V440
V490
V1280
E2900

Ruled out getting any 25Ks to replace our E10Ks, well at least this week we have!

And then theres the IBM pSeries stuff...

Still can't find anyone who knows what make the damn cabinets are !
