Network problem
Ok i have 3 computers in my house all hooked up via a netgear 10/100 router. they can all access tghe internet via my NTL connection. the problem is that squirting big files like ripped dvds between computers takes a bit of time even at 100mBit. my new rig has a 2 x gigabit lan on board. if i was to purchase 2 x gigabit network cards and stick them in the other 2 computers will i still be limited by the speed of the router. could i connect at least 2 of the computers(only 3ft apart) via a crossover cable to enable gigabit filesharing or would i be better to buy a gigabit router as well. i am confused and don't know what to do. the 10/100 is more than fast enough for net browsing and game play, its just the sending of large files that is slow.
any solutions greatly appreciated.
cheers

Yes, the router will restrict you to 100BaseT if thats it's max.
TBH, get a cross over cable between the two you transfer stuff between, cheap and effective.
Or if you've got the cash, get gigabit hub to service all three systems + the cards.
