USB ports - convert to 2?
PC has 4x usb 1 (or 1.1) ports. Is there a way to 'convert' them to usb 2. It's the front ones I want to upgrade if poss. Is this doable or should I go the route of a pc card with usb 2 ports coming out the back?
Anyone recommend any cheap ones? Any more than £20 and I'd have to think about a 'media dock' that reads media cards/floppies/firewire port etc.

Depends how the front ports connect to the motherboard / controller.
You can pick up a 4 port USB 2.0 card for £10 to £15 and some of these have connectors on for internal ports.

Just been 'told' that it's possible to convert your normal usb 1 ports to usb 2 by downloading some software (flashing the bios?) and running that. I'm sceptical as I thought the hardware was different????
