Default Best Dial Up Provider

I know this has been asked before, but i can't find the thread required.
Virgin.net are stopping dial up,looks like they are going broadband only.
I need to know what recommendations you have for a Good ISP Dial up
provider, I was thinking of Tesco.net, any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Oh and they must be available in Wales!

Hello

I know that people hate them, but I never had any problems with AOL. Relatively cheap, no 2 hour cut-off.

Steve.

I've used Eclipse for several un-metered dial-up accounts. No problems at all.

Start at £12 per month and go upwards.

i Have never used it but its free dial up

As for BB having higher level of risks, id say theres a risk of being infected with virus what ever way you connect to net

um... and dial up is so much safer how?
tbh if broadband is an option then take it, dialup seems almost unusable once you've used broadband.
Just make sure you're os patches are up 2 date and running av and firewall..(which ever method u choose)
I'd choose broadband and a router over dialup anyday...

Thanks Krazy,
But apparently Due to the speed of Broadband, Security is compromised,
because any Virus checker is not fast enough to trace and quarantee
Viruses, Not sure if this fact, but this is what I have been informed,
If you have proof otherwise please let me know I will look forward to
your reply, If correct then i probably will go Broadband, but i need yours
and others responses, Thank you all again.

Hello

With the greatest of respect that is complete rubbish. Install a good (free even) firewall and a virus checker and you are fine.

I second that, its a load of codswallop!!!!! Make sure you have up-to-date virus protection, and a decent firewall, and you will be no more 'unsafe' than dial-up!!!!

That's ridiculous!

Most broadband services have a similar transfer rate to a floppy disk drive!

ie. they're not very quick (in the scheme of things).....

PMSL

Everyone is vulnerable to Malware, Spyware , Hacking etc etc including Companies running T1 lines
Nothing to do with the speed of the line its what you have protecting you
Firewall and Antivirus works very well as long as it is set up correctly

Hmm.. Broadband download speed VS HDD read/write speed - I think the virus checker may be able to keep up
