Default What is Winsoc ?

I have a Wanadoo broadband connection which is not working at the moment, well the modem connects fine but I cannot actually get onto the internet through the Wanadoo browser or internet explorer.

Wanadoo helpline says the Winsoc (spelling?) needs to be re-instated & I should speak to the helpline of the supplier (PC World supplied the PC)

Before I go down this route - can anyone help me ?

Ro.

Has it ever worked or is this your first installation ?

Have you followed the instructions as per the CD and are you using the speedtouch modem supplied ?

ash1 - It worked just fine since I took wanadoo several months ago, then one day it stopped working.
The speedtouch modem works fine, connects fine, just cannot view any pages now on the internet either through wanadoo or internet explorer, get a page cannot be displayed message.
Wanadoo helpline diagnosed the winsoc needed re-instating.

When I click on the wanadoo internet or internet explorer icon I get a white screen & "page cannot be displayed" message.
So looks like that interface is broken, ie i can get connected but just can't view pages

You can get freeware utilities to repair your winsock settings.

I'll have a look around and see if I can find a link

Can you still get email?

Reason I ask is that I have occasional problems with my Wannadoo/Speedtouch connection. When I have these problems I just go to the File menu in Explorer and the "Work Offline" option is ticked. Click on this and then Refresh and everything is sorted out.
