It was real! The Mac Mini
Keep us posted mate. Looks like I need another £500 for 1 of these. Take it these are going to be Apples version of the Shuttle. Still leaves the screen choise to the user which if you got for a cinema display your still looking at £1250 all in minimum.
Where you getting the info from? Cos I would really like to see specs.

iPod flash is available from today, no UK prices though.
Simon, I'm guessing this is a successor to the cube, I gather its more focused towards iPod management. With the specs I've seen, its definitely only an "entry level" machine. I think for me though if it has the right ports (VGA out) it will be under 'telly.

Just been studying the specs and I would always recommend buying non-Apple RAM, but unfortunately this is non user-serviceable. So you would have to buy Apple RAM, which is a shame, but it won't stop me from buying one
PS Simon, for cheaper Cinema Displays check out the Refurb section on Wednesday mornings on the Apple Online store.

$1000.00 in the US or £680.00 in the UK for a spec I could live with. For an extra £150.00 I don't have to smuggle one past customs, well done Apple, the UK tax man will appreciate it.
Both look very nice. Not bothering with an display is an interesting take on the Shuffle. Nice to see it's a straight USB connection - presume it could be used as a memory key?
As for the Mini, is it pitched at the HTPC space or a budget PC?
How does the Radeon 9200 handle games on the Mac? The graphics blurb makes it sound ace but it's a bit of a pants card for gaming on a PC given it's a £30 product.

Yup and they're all ugly, make a **** load of noise and have issues. This is the answer to most people home computer needs, small, quiet, reliable and a looker as well.

A budget machine for a budget market, or for a pc user to sample the mac experience without heavily investing...
Lets see if they can now increase their market share with this mini mac

Anyway, here's an interesting point for existing Mac users to consider. Our Apple "taxes" (
) this year will cover a copy of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, a copy of iLife 05 and for some users, another 12 months .Mac subs.Mac OS X 10.4
£99
iLife 05
£49
.Mac subs
£69
TOTAL = £217
Given that the base Mac mini is £339, for another £122 on top of your yearly Apple software expenses, you can have a whole new Mac too!
