Question USB to Ethernet converter?

I've just got a broadband router to go wireless , was about to connect it and have a problem the output from my modem is a USB but I need it to be an ethernet for the router.

Does anybody know of a USB to Ethernet converter cable? Or would it just be cheaper / easier to get an ethernet modem?

Cheers

Gus

I'd go for the modem/router option - all in one package. I'm assuming you are on ADSL? Although I believe cable works on them as well.

Cheers, I've looked at those and I think they go the wrong way.

I've got a USB plug, but need it to go into an ethernet socket. Wouldn't have thought this would have been difficult to find, but I've had no luck.

There are one or two technical reasons why you can't go straight from usb to ethernet. One of them being that you need a computer to decode the usb signals into network signals (a little more complex than a cheap adapter could handle I suspect).

You'd be better off getting a modem with an ethernet port built in (even even better, a router with a built in modem if you are on ADSL - not sure that they're available for cable).

Ian is spot on - ethernet modem or buy a router/modem combined.

That USB thingy up there is for connecting PCs to a router via a USB port I believe.
