Dear all boffins,
you'll have to forgive me if I don't speak computer language, I have recently gone broadband, and have had trouble with pop ups and trojan horse virus getting in ever since, I now have upgraded AVG anti virus software, and a Kerio firewall working, I keep getting it though, even when i heal the file, or delet it, or move to vault, they still get found during the AVG scan.
Any boffine prepared to help would be listened to, i'm getting fed up with it, one minute I think i've got it sorted, the next I get another popup...
TA.
Ron.

Ron - things to do in the mean time. Get hold of a copy of Ad-aware / Spybot. Not necessarily related to your problem, but worth having.
Sounds like this might be related to the Messenger service (I'm assuming you are running XP?). This is not to be confused with MSN Messenger. I would download a couple of small apps from Gibson Research. Grab 'Shoot the Messenger' and 'DCOMbobulator'.
All of the above is free. You might want to also try Spy Sweeper. This is a commerical adware remover that is the best I've found. You can get a fully working 30 day version with the latest signature files.
Run this lot and let us know if this finds anything.

Thanks for that Chris,
I've now done away with MSN messenger, and the windows one seems to be gone too?? also been advised that there are security issues with Internet Explorer, so I'm now using Mozilla Firefox, so far I've been online for about 20 mins, and have had no pop ups warning of a virus attack, here's hoping its sorted, I should be able to totally delete IE, and with it all the knackered files, should know for sure later tonight,
Thanks for taking to time to try and help....

OK Ron - think you'll still need IE for Windows Update, so don't delete it totally. I use Firefox too - miles better. Another good program you can run is 'Spyware Blaster' - it runs in the background and stops a lot of spyware / trojan stuff installing. This is also free.
