Absolute maximum of twelve months I would imagine. Hitachi offer only three months.

OEM or Retail? Retail kit usually comes with three years, but a similar OEM channel device will come with a 12 month warranty from the vendor. In some circumstances the manufacturer may honor the retail warranty term if contacted directly.

Fortunately my OEM DeathStar had a 12 month warranty but irrespective of the warranty period it must be fit for the purpose and a device that dies after 13 months wasnt so you are certainly entitled to a depreciated credit; dont be fobbed off.

ok cheers - my mate's digging his paperwork out now to find out whether it was retail or oem. It came from overclockers.

The drive won't even communicate with the computer - doesn't get recognised by BIOS or WinXP installer. Sounds like the bearings have gone listening to the mechanical nature of the noise.
