Updating a USB port

Can this be done? the USB ports on my laptop are 1.1 and I got a flash drive that supports 2.0, so XP keeps giving me annoying messages like "this device can perform better" everytime i plug it in.

Is this possible?

get a PCMCIA USB2 card

Shouldn't be that expensive.
