Default Before I order TomTom Go...

Are there any deals out at the moment that would give me the same for less ? ie a PDA deal with TomTom software ?

Comet are selling the TomTom Go for £411, which is a pretty good deal !

Cheers

Have a look at the Dell website:

Dell Axim X30 (with bluetooth and wireless) and a wireless GPS solution (although not TomTom) - From £408

Dell Axim X30 (without bluetooth and wireless) and a wired TomTom GPS solution - £336

Dell Axim X30 (with bluetooth and wireless) and a wired TomTom GPS solution - £406

I also looked at a Palm Tungsten T3 along with a TomTom solution, but the PDA costs about £200 and the TomTom kit about £240, and I can't seem to find a package deal.

Cheers Andy, will do.

The TomTom Go does look good, but I was thinking that if I got a PDA too then I could use this for other things aswell as the nav.

Thanks

I have a friend that works at Dell and can get staff prices on all hardware and he ended up buying a TomTom Go (as he didn't need a PDA)!!

You will have the same functionality, so if you need a PDA it seems worthwhile getting a package deal.

I found a couple of websites, but they weren't very competitive (compared to Dell)

If you get a PDA, do you need the extras such as wireless and bluetooth? (If so, I can post my findings)

Hi Andy,

Nah, don't really need Bluetooth etc, so post away Although I guess it would be nice to have a wireless GPS so that I can just take the PDA with me and put it in whatever car I like (I don't always drive the cool car to work )

Had a look at Expansys and got confused Then had a look at TotalPDA.co.uk site too, which was a bit better. However, the Dell deals do look quite good actually, think I'll have to place a wee order later

Cheers

TBH you really cant beat the actual Tomtom go gps unit. I have used both pda's and now purchased a tomtom go and its really good, well built great to look at, and the sound quality os superb. I give ita 10/10 and would recomend it to anyone.

Take a look at www.holux-uk.com

I got a bundled deal off them which was pretty good which included the top-scoring GR-230 bluetooth GPS receiver.

Thanks for the links lads. I've been having a look round and found this http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/p761

Seems pretty good to me, but I've never heard of Spotlight Mio PDA's !

Any good ?

Cheers

The only thing that puts me off is that the PDA is quite chunky with the aerial on the back.

Also read the reviews and from what I gather everyone recommends getting a larger SD card memory card. Not really a problem as 1Gb ones are about £60 on www.aria.co.uk

I've decided to give it a go, and I did indeed order a larger SD card too

I found a review somewhere on the 'net, and it had a picture of the PDA in someones hand - it's not particularly big although not the slimmest either. But the reviews I found were more than favourable, and at £325 inc vat, built in GPS and TomTom 3, seemed like a reasonable deal.

I'll post my findings

Cheers

Well having given this a good try out, I have to say that I'm mighty impressed. The PDA doesn't have bluetooth\wireless etc, but I don't need it. It does have a built in GPS receiver though, and so is ideal for bunging in the car.

The TomTom3 software is very good actually, and if you go off-route, it recalculates very quickly - quicker than the satnav in my now sold x-type Jag !

You don't need the larger SD card, and that makes it just £325 inc vat and delivery. Although the SD cards aren't exactly expensive.

Thanks for your suggestions lads.

I have the same PDA but use software called Falk Navigator
Most impressed too very easy to use and very fast at recalculating route and at under £300 just a few ££'s

Cool

Tomorrow (Friday) BT Shop have another of their 'Advent' offers on.It's for an RZ1710 pocket PC with Tom Tom GPS.They sell the package normally for £330 but you get 30% off that by using promotional code ckckjf which brings the price down to £220 including vat and delivery.I think that's a bit of bargain isn't it??
Todays offer was for a Relisys 17in lcd TV which also had 30% off so I ordered one of those for the kitchen.Came out at £280 inc vat and delivery (Cheapest other place was Richersounds at £350 plus you have to collect it)
Link to BT's offer for tomorrow for you - http://www.shop.bt.com/page/adventcalendar10

Good luck

Nick

P.S: If anybody does want one of the above items then my advice would be to order at the stroke of midnight just to be sure you get one!!

Just read somewhere that good old BT have put the price of this PDA up 60 quid.It WAS £269.99 and you would have had 30% off that price which made it more of a bargain. Now I'm not so sure if it's a bargain anymore!!
