Default New DVD Drive

Hi Everybody!

My DVD drive appears to have died. Only had it for just over a year.

So which is the best replacement currently? There seems plenty of choice and not too expensive. Not inclined to stick with Pioneer after this relatively quick failure to my current drive. I also fancy dual layer.

Cheers

Hello Everybody ( sorry had to do it ! -- with a surname like mine i should know better ! )

Even tho your pioneer has died , for my money , id stick with em , and go for the DVR 108 . Its a wicked drive , fast , dual layer , quiet , and reliable .....

NEC3500 would be my 2nd weapon of choice.
Robust, reliable and priced in-line with the marginally superior 108

Well wadda ya know.

As a last resort I ran my CD player head cleaning CD on it last night and it fixed it completely. Ive had it for 10 years and its never ever fixed any skipping or other problems on any other CD player I have had but this time it did!

Must have been traces of toast and jam on the recording heads.

Still, nice to know Pioneer has a good reputation, so thanks for the feedback.

Cheers!
