DNS in small business server
Have just installed SBS 2003, configured all settings/params, and configured DNS to forward all external lookups to our ISP's DNS server. I have configured the servers DNS settings in LAN settings to the IPS's DNS server as well.
When Client PC's connect, and use the servers address for DNS, some external web sites are available, but others are not (i.e. google.co.uk cannot be found, but google.com can).
If I set the client PC's DNS settings to point to the ISP's DNS server, all sites are fine?!?!
******* MS p1ssmeoff!!!!!!!!
Any Ideas?

Also what OS are you running on the client machines??

The SBS 2003 Servers I look after point back to themselves for DNS.
Then on the DNS server, the ISPs name servers are set in the Forwarders.
On the SBS box, right click the server in DNS MMC and click Clear Cache.
You can also right click the server to launch NSLookup. When you are having the problem, try doing a manual DNS query against the ISPs servers and see what they return.

they are xp - will now try what has been suggested - bring me back my UNIX servers !!!!
DNS was originally pointing back to itself - but tried changing to the ISP for testing

Still won't see certain web pages (other are fine) - have set DNS back to ISP's to enable exchange to email via DNS lookup) - have flushed DNS on clients. ISP's DNS servers are fine, as I have set the client PC's to their DNS servers, and everything is fine (although it takes a while to log onto the PC this way)!
Confuses me, as this setup worked fine when the machine was running Windows Server 2003!

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
you havent created a .co.uk zone or something stupid have you? so its trying to resolve dns internally??
If you do an nslookup on the sbs server what are you getting as a response? does it resolve www.google.co.uk?
As chris said you need to configure the forwarder, and fw will need dns ports opening between sbs and isp (obviously done tho.)
PC's need there dns server ip setting to the sbs server IP?
Its not multihomed or got the wrong info configured under dhcp scope options?
SBS Server ip address is on same subnet as the client pc's I assume (ie correct subnet masks)
Sounds like something really simple, but its hard to say without seeing it... I hate remote support
