Default XBOX DVD Media

Just curious as to what media people are using.

I have been using Verbatim x2 DVD-R faultlessly for the last 12mths, however these are getting harder and harder to come by at the moment ( and expensive )

Any recommendations !!

I use Ritek G04 discs only now (at 4x max). Normally the RiDisc ones here.

Plus you'll need the latest firmware on your dvd writer so that it can detect 4x media. If you've bought the drive in the last 12 months then you should be ok but you can check the firmware of your drive and reference it to the latest on the manufacturers website!!

Good luck

P.S: Ridisc/Ritek as Dunk mentioned above are good discs and you shouldn't have a problem...

LOL DOH.. cheers for that

I figured that was the case, just heard that some older drives can struggle with the newer x8 media, wanted to check that wasnt the case with x4 speed media...

Looks like I will give the Ridisc a try then..

You'll probably find that if you buy a budget ritek disc now, you'll get mixed batched of g04 (4x) and g05 (8x) media.
Quality has began to take a turn for the worse laterly with Ritek discs too.

For reliability and compatibility, i would recommend a fuji dye (Datawrite grey 8x) or a CMC/MCC (same as Verbatim) dye.

All these dye manufacturers have raised their game considerably while Ritek have rested on their g04 laurels.

I'm using Datawrite yellow TTG02's now, superb discs. Work great for PS2, Xbox and all of my tested DVD players and recorders.
