Telewest Cable or BT ADSL ???????
ok finally gonna be living where i can have either of the above after yrs of using a 56k modem at no better than 33.6k !
looking at a 1mb service from either of the above.
house currently got telewest tv and phone services so possibly easier to simply add to these ? but could add bt to the house, although imho BT are a bunch of 'unrepeatable' cowboys in my experience on 56k with them. but want a decent broadband connection so they're reluctantly in the frame atm.......
but which is the best ?
pros and cons ?
whose got wot ? had both ? good or bad stories ?
i'll be using it a lot (new wife depending ) for online gaming.....CS predominantly (am i allowed to mention that in here these days )
cheers.

had both and TW cable is much better, pings are alot lower than BT, less outage. tbh I cannot fault TW and the fact you already have their services means you would be silly not to use them.

To get ADSL you'll either have to add an extra BT Line - or swap the whole shooting match to BT, (and then get Sky or freeView).
There will be plenty of people who have both good and bad stories about both. Those with bad stories will shout louder.
margins on high volume consumer b/w dont allow the sorts of customer service to hand hold technical retards some people would like . Why dont you try looking at a site dedicated to the comparison (and whinging) of the various BB ISP and Suppliers

vested interest there maybe?
Bloody good sevice from telewest
Telecoms also good
My experience with BT is bad
Overpriced
No regular outage updates on the web
Keep getting POP3 problems
Every few days get loss of sync
You work for them or something?

Telewest BB is superb. Cable has only been down for a couple of days in over 4 years.
You get a pipe all to yourself whereas with BT you will have to share it with everyone else on it. Slower speeds and higher ping rates.

I've had a cable modem since the original trials in the midlands, quite a few years back now!! Only been down a couple of times (for not very long) in all that time.
Its absolutely excellent - aside from the poor upload speed (same speed as for 1mb ADSL tho!!)

I've used Telewest BB for about 5 years. Get the odd problem once every 6 months or so, but they're usually fixed very quickly. Telewest seem to be the first to offer faster speeds aswell with 2mb available at the moment.
