Ok, so the actual issue hasn't been sorted yet (looking like it's a problem with the PC) but the customer service has been very good.

They spent a while on the phone trying various things before concluding there was a problem and saying I would get a call within 24hrs to arrange an engineer's visit. They called back well within the time specified, and arranged an engineer for the next morning. He turned up on time, did what he could to prove the line was ok (it is) and then passed me on to a techy on the phone who then spent a goodly amount of time before we proved where the issue is.

So, no other reason for posting other than to say well done. It's all to easy to only post when you want to rant (I know I've done it! ).

Glad I was sitting down when I read this thread Iain Makes a change. I've had mixed results with NTL, so this is good to see.
