Question

http://www.netgear.co.uk/

Basically I'm being lazy and my internet link at work is dire.

What I want to do is:

- wireless router downstairs connected to the set-top box broadband (NTL)
- PC and Xbox wireless connection ports in the spare room upstairs

What components do I need - someone has mentioned Netgear do an Xbox specific bit of hardware for wireless use (puzzled as to why a standard wireless port won't work, it is a PC in a box after all?).

Any advice?

Cheers, Alex

Hello

The "standard" wireless links wont work as there isn't a PCI / PCMCIA slot to plug them into.

So what you need for the X-Box is a wireless bridge (they are expensive):

Hello

Don't buy two bridges, it's a waste of money. Just buy a PCI card (for less than £20!) for the PC.

The ME101 works fine with my X-Box Makes upgrading the apps easy as pie Like Steve says, just get a card for the PC, much cheaper

Still having issues with streaming video playback via mine, but that may be due to the positioning of my router and bridge.

Question

I've got a 10/100 base T card in the PC already, I was going to buy two ME101s so that I can have the PC and the Xbox connected at the same time - incase the misses wants to access the web whilst I'm getting thrashed on PGR2!

Or am I missing the point with the ME101, I think its just a single port wireless hub? Can you get dual port ones?

Yeah, you need a wireless PCI card though, It'll be cheaper than another bridge

The ME101 (£50ish) has its own IP address and will act as a wireless LAN card for the X-Box. Then you need a wireless PCI card in the PC (£20-30), should save £20 odd.

Hello

Well, depending on where you are in Surrey, I can always help. With some disclaimer about the fact that as it's your PC maybe it'll stop working when I open it up as well!

Cheers for the offer Steve.

I've found a USB wireless adaptor, think I'll opt for that.
