Set to 85hz in Windows XP but goes to 60hz when I play games. My old nvidia card did the same thing but had a fix which sets the refresh rate. Is there a similar thing for ATI cards?

Try setting the Windows XP resolution to the same one you run your games in and make sure this refreshes at 85hz, then give the games another go. PC's can associate different resolutions with different refresh rates.

There is a refresh rate fix included in the latter versions of the ATI Catalyst drivers.

From the DISPLAY SETTINGS panel go to SETTINGS-ADVANCED-DISPLAYS and select your active monitor. You should then see a window to select your refresh rate in

Yes cheers. Had actually already found it by trial and error. Set to 75hz which seems to have stopped the flickering.
