Ian, it's worth being picky about what DVD media you use. It's no good paying a low price if half of them dont work. Personally, i only use Ritek G04 dye DVDs like the ones here. Only had 1 coaster out of the 20-25ish I've burnt so far.

depends what drive you have.
i have an NEC 1300a and have been using ritek orange tops (just over a pound per disc) which u can get from scan and bigpockets.co.uk ive burnt around 50 now and not had 1 coaster yet

neo technologies have some good deals on from time to time.
25 neo 4x -r were about £12.not had a bad burn with those.
Just bought some datasafes 4x G4 riteks for £20.
so far so good.
dont get those red tops, datawrites.they are total ****e!!
I had about 10 bad disks out of 25.some looked like they had turps spilt on them ,some suffered from overburn at the edge.
stick to Ritek dye disks

I've got a 106 and I only use Ritek Purples.
The problem with the Datawrite ones is they differ depending on which batch you get. You might buy 50 and every single one work perfectly, or you could find none of them work..
