Ok, this has me a little baffled, prob fairly straight forward though.

Server: W2000SVR + SQL2000
BackUP SW: Backupexec + SQL plug in
Device: HP Quantum DAT

I have a fresh install of SQL2k on the server, (although this is not the orignal location of the databases). Through Backupexec I select the DBs from the tape and set to restore.

They appear in the 'databases' section of SQL, BUT they are in grey with '(loading)' under them. I have given them plenty of time (overnight) but still nothing...

Have tried just restoring one of the smaller databases (v small) but still the same problem.

Any thoughts?

Disclaimer: *I'm still learning SQL*

The main DB for the restores you're trying to do will have entries for the path of all other DB's. If you're trying to restore them to a different path it wont work out of the box. I guess you can use 'Query Analyzer' to fix it....but god know's how (let me know when you find out )!

POC

At a glance it sounds like the option 'Restore and leave database operational' has not been set so once the restore is complete the database is still offline. In enterprise manager right click on the database in question and see if there is a option (can remember exactly what it is) that says 'make online', I'll have a look in books online as well.

POC, side issue, did you by chance use SQL V7 prior to 2k?
