XBOX - Xbox Live/Xbconnect

Hi,
I have ADSL through the ISP ADSLNOW - standard 256MB/512MB service.
When I play over the Xbconnect service, I always cause bad lag on the games.
Does anyone know why this might be? Could it be because of the ageing laptop which I connect through or is it more likely to be my internet connection?
Does anyone out there play on Xbconnect via 256/512 ADSL? How does it work for you and who is your ISP?
Finally, how is Xbox Live using this ADSL speed?

I have a BT Broadband 512 line and same problems as you 
lagg on xboxconnect makes it impossible to play , this may be because I've only ever played on other ppl's games 
as for Xbox live.... I haven't had a single lag problem playing MotoGP2 ..... a couple of times you see bikes jumping all over the track so there is a little lag but that's only been a couple of times in the last few weeks
