Looking at some stats for a web site.

"Over 3 million page requests (or 10 million hits)"

Can someone explain whats the difference between page requests and hits?

Thanks for your help

A request is basically a page and a hit is the objects on the page.

ie. a page with 5 images is 1 request but 6 hits (1 for the page and 5 for the images)
