Question

I have an image, jpg, when opened in PSP, bottom right hand corner shows: Image: 3949 x 9000 x 256 - 33.9 MBytes

The image is black and white only. It is currently 3.5MB file size.
When I use max compression, under file / save as / options, file is reduced to 800K. (Still to big).

I have tried, Colours / Decrease Colour Depth / Colour Depth 2 Colours 1 bit.
PSP does this, then shows bottom right hand corner info as:
Image: 3949 x 9000 x 2 - 4.2 MB
Do file save as, max compression again, file size = 800K
Close the file and re-open, bottom right hand corner shows:
Image: 3949 x 9000 x 256 - 33.9MB ???!!!

Why has it changed it back to 256 colours?

Any other ideas how I can reduce the file size of this jpg?

As stated already, this is just black and white image (no different shading, pure black or pure white), so reducing it to just 2 colours should reduce the file size?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello

Can't you reduce the size?

Steve.

Size - ie resize smaller... but keep it as a .psd until your finished - otherwise you lose quality in the transition
