Question

I am in Bracknell and am getting poor response for web and ftp connection via the cable modem. Some websites come up as not found (even microsoft.com did it !!) even though i can connect my work laptop over VPN and view these sites.

Anyone else getting poor response at the mo ?

Dave

The proxies are a pain in the ****. Each one seems to have its own problems. That said I thought the proxies only directed port 80/http traffic and not ftp/https etc?

Simon.

try my web proxy prob program. Chuck in all the proxy address and it will seek the fastest one for you and update it automatically.

It's free and the proxy addresses are freely available on the net.

Oh... and Im not advertising - it's FREE

Its only 2mb - shall I email it to you with the list of proxy addresses?

****... you have a hotmail addy - wont take more than about 900k... let me see what size it goes to if I zip it....

Damnnnn.. still over 1mb. I could put it on my ftp for you to download... let me know and I will email you over the details..

Im on cache3-blfs.server.ntli.net at the moment - port 8080. Give it a whirl

Fine here in the North East, although a couple of weeks ago it was flakey around 5/6pm for a day or two.

Cheers

LOL... paste these back in the text file. For the first cycle keep the pings high - 2 or 3. If you want to continually cycle then up it to 20 or higher.

Here is a screen shot of my set up on broadband.

In internet explorer click Tools>Internet Options>connections>Lan Settings. Check the two boxes like I have. In ProxyProbe, start it off and check the Auto Update box making sure you have set the port to 8080.

Another thing you should do is empty all your temporary internet files and it may be worth clearing your SSL cache and cookies too.

Let us know how you get on.

Karen x

Edit: oops, forgot the piccie!
