I received this e-mail today.

It immediately struck me as very suspicious because:
a)I am not registered to receive Microsoft updates on this e-mail address
b)It came from rbomvfxjopfen_vejf@advisor_msdn.net
c)It has and attachment called Install4.exe

I looked at the Windows update site and there is no mention of this update, so it looks like some muppet has found an ingenious way to deliver a virus or worm to the masses.

Apologies if everyone is aware of this one already, It's the first time I’ve seen it.

Yep it's a virus called W32/Swen@MM. It was discovered at the end of last week and is medium risk.

Bin the e-mail, don't open the attachment. As you have worked out it's not from Microsoft.

This type of e-mail has been doing the rounds lately.

It was binned as soon as I saw it, along with another one.

Oops just noticed the same subject running below, I'm slow off the mark as usual

I've had this one four times now!

Install Zone Alarm Pro, it scans attachments on emails and quaranteened each of these attachments.

Damn virus writers.
