IDE RAID controller
#1
Anyone recommend a good IDE RAID controller with two channels? Looking to mirror a pair of 120GB WD disks in my desktop PC. Thinking of the Promise TX2000, but prices seem to differ wildly (Scan have it for £59.99+VAT, Dabs want £99+VAT for it). Would prefer to stick with a pure hardware controller, rather than one of these hybrid software cards or the built-in stuff in XP.

Adaptec 1200 is a solid performer. I've had one running a RAID 0 Stripe without any problems for a few months now.

Been running 3ware controllers on 3 x 4Tb IDE RAID for some time now, pretty good, although there was a problem with Western Digital drives' firmware tricking the controller into thinking a disk was degraded, but that wasn't the controllers fault.

Actually, the 3ware one is one of the weaker performers
The Highpoint RocketRAID 404 is the best all round ATA133 RAID Controller available and very good for the money.

Have had 3 of these now, all producing excellent results and work brilliantly with the WD SE Drives.
Cheers,
Nick
