Remote Desktop ports & firewall

I'm trying to allow a remote desktop connection for one of our users. I've enabled port-forwarding port 3389 -> his PC's port 3389, but I can't get it to connect. We masquerade internal IP adresses BTW.
It works fine on the LAN and when I do a packet capture I can see communication between ports 3389 and 1082.
What's 1082 used for and will this affect the firewall config???
VNC and all the other port-forward rules work fine, just remote desktop is being a right royal pain.
