Tried dragging and it says only files or attachments can be attachments

I want to use the Insert, Hyperlink option but am not sure of the Type or URL to use.

I want a hyperlink that says CLICK HERE and opens up a window to the folder.

Thanks Stefan. Still can't get it to work. The path does have spaces, will that mess it up ?

Type - It gives options of: file, http, https, gopher, mailto, news, wais or telnet.

Question

I want to put a hyperlink that will open up an Explorer window to a particular shared directory on the network.

How do I do this ?

Thanks

What, something different to the usual UNC name e.g. \\server01\share01

If I wanted people to open a folder by sending them an e-mail, I'd normally just use that. When they click the name, it'll open the folder.

Is that what you mean?

Locate the folder you want to shortcut too, drag and drop to your desktop. Voila.

Yep, that's another method.

The only thing it won't like with the UNC paths is spaces

Dunk,

Type would just be "Existing File or WebPage". Set the Text to Display as "CLICK HERE", then set the address to the UNC path for your shared folder e.g. \\server01\share01

That should work.

Sorry, was looking at Outlook 2002.

Funnily enough on my Outlook 2000 @ work, I don't get the Insert->Hyperlink option

Yes, spaces will casue problems if you just start typing the UNC path onto the e-mail. As soon as you hit the spacebar it thinks you've stopped typing the UNC, so stops the hyperlink/shortcut.

You could try putting quotes around it, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
