IE screwed - help needed URGENTLY!!!

Running IE 5.5 sp2, its not opening links in a new window when I ask it to, also if you go to help it no longer shows the version.

Did a registry deletion and program files deletion and the scripted version has reinstalled on the pc but still the same problems and now outlook wont open as its reporting it needs IE version 4 or higher. [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

Any fixes before I rebuild this ******* pc, not that I'm getting aggitated or anything you understand!

you can try going into control panel and add/remove programs then doing a "repair installation" on the IE program......i think you'll need the software CD or fast internet link though

Thanks micab but its on a corporate pc so its not in add/remove due to it being installed via script etc.

Looks like a rebuild as its shagged

you can re-install once you have deleted a key from the version key within the registry...just can't remeber where it is...
once deleted then you can re-install from where-ever...it's this key that tells the setup program that it's already installed & then stops a re-install.....if you know what I mean

how about doing a windowsupdate.com and upgrade it to IE6?

Sorry guys its a corporate build on a pc, ie scripted etc, can not update the version, can not run windows update. Did a complete registry search and deletion of all ie stuff and deleted program files folder. Reinstalled via the script as normal and the ****** still didnt work so have trashed the pc and currently rebuilding. Once IE ***** up it really knows how to mess with the whole pc, bloody thing. Other guys in the support team have come across it before and had to rebuild so I didn't stand much chance of finding a fix for this.
