have the old broadband up&running, and have just had a quick blast at RTCW multiplayer, but it was a bit like spawn/die spawn/die spawn/die spawn/die spawn/die ....

are there any sites about with tips for begginers - I can play the game - just not very well when against real opponents

You could try Battlefield 1942, which has more for everyone IMO:

Different clases of infantry and vehicles gives you more of a fighting chance, especially with certain clases being able to self heal or repair any vehicle/weapon.
