I'll have to make do with a measly 9500 PRO unless prices drop a bit more over the next month.

I definitely believe the date for Half Life 2 - they've been totally silent about it during its development, and stayed that way until it was actually ready.

Imagine the Duke Nukem developers faces when they saw how good Half-Life2 looked?

They've allegedly throw a lot of money at the game, first licencsing the quake engine, then unreal's.

i downloaded dnf2001_hiq.exe from the duke nukem forever website the other day, to remind myself about the game.

Thi was back in 2001 when that footage was released, and looking at the game, it still looks bloody impressive even with todays standards!

Hello

I really liked Duke Nukem 3D, and have been waiting for next installment. I'll be surprised if it ever happens!

No news for years and years.

Oh well.

Well I just downloaded Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project from Bit Torrent and although it has all the classis soudbites of Duke 3D, its a pile of 2d platform crap with some beefed up gfx.

Duke 3d is where I honed my multiplayer skills. Many a day/week/month at Uni spent playing Duke 3d on our house LAN.

For Half-Life 2, just read that minimum spec will be:

"An 800 MHz P-III and a DX6 level hardware accelerator (e.g. TNT)."

Thats from the horses mouth so-to-speak (Gabe Newell, Valve)

Valve also mentioned they've licenced their engine to another company who's developing a game. The company are well known to valve, and go by the name of Troika ? Vampire Masquerade or something?

Update on Duke Nukem Forever:

Duke4 Not A 2003 Game [May 29, 2003 : 02:25 pm]
545 Comments - Steve Gibson
Well here is some news I'm sure you guys werent expecting. A recent investor conference call for Take2 has revealed that Duke4 is in fact still not ready to ship, but even more so it looks like it wont show up for this holiday season either! Here's the quote:

"Analyst: Regarding Duke Nukem Forever for the PC, any chance - any possibility under the sun - that we see that this holiday season? Or at what point do you guys just pull the plug on that?

Take Two: I think in terms of possibilities under the sun for this holiday season, the answer to that is 'no.' With regards to next year, we're in a wait and see mode at this point. You know, last quarter we wrote it down substantially, so we generally already pulled the plug. And right now we're just hopeful that the team in Dallas will finish it."

The conference call also mentioned that Take2 would be scaling back their E3 presence next year and they are hoping for a Max Payne2 release around January of 2004. Also the mysterious Manhunt game is coming out by October of this year. Thanks Chris!

note: The pull the plug comment does NOT mean the game is cancelled at all. Also Scott Miller had some insight into the finance side of things when the write-downs were announced a while back.

Hello

I don't understand what is taking them so long with Duke Nukem. It's been in development for 6 years!
