I wanna have a play with some DV editing now I got use of a DVD writer
Got Adobe Premier to do the editing bits, is this easy to use?, what's recommended for a newby
Also, if anyone knows of any good sites for info on this kinda thang that would be a great help, need a cheap resource for a firewire card aswell.
Cheers

Adobe Premier is fairly simple to use (esp. if you use the help feature) On my first use, I knocked up a pretty video of a meet. I got a Sound blaster Audigy 2 - cos I wonted better sound, and it had a firewire port!

Premiere works fine for editing the video, and lets you put in all sorts of titles, transitions etc. Pretty easy to learn as well.
Also If you get hold the latest version of Roxio easy cd/dvd creator or one of the others), then it will let you write to dvd and construct all the menus etc. Works really well

Personnally I found Adobe Prem quite difficult to get the hang of after using MGI Videowave 5, which is much simpler but still allows loads of edit options (probably not as good quality as the Adobe ones). It also allows creation of DVD from within the software including menus etc.
Which reminds me, any advice on a good cheap DVD writer. Not after speed just a sound device at a low price - any recommendations?

I've ordered the cheapy £15 firewire card from Dabs, see how I get on with that. Have a look on Dabs for DVD writers, seem to have come down a heck of alot in the last few months.

Alternatively, I've got a Pioneer 105 (dvd-r and dvd-rw) recorder and I've yet to find a drive that won't read the discs that it writes, (including my aging standalone dvd player which won't even read cdrs).
I was going to get one of the sony ones, but after having one on order for 3 months I gave up. The pioneer is cheaper as well (I've seen it going for £190).

I just bought the Pioneer DVR-105 drive from ebuyer
Writes at 4x with supported media. Costs £156.86 plus the vat.
Also got the external Sony drive for work that does -R and +R from Komplett, but its £400
Comes with some good software.
Found some very useful info here.
