Long bits of Cat5 network cable
not sure as yet, gonna have to measure up tomorrow but its gonna go round a couple of doors frames, round the landing, down the stairs, round some more doors etc but if you could give me an idea of how much you want for certain lengths that'd be cool?

Wireless system is a good idea provided you can get a decent signal wherever you want to use the PCs. Mine is excellent on the first floor (where the WAP is,) but poor downstairs. I know I could reposition the WAP to get a better signal, but theres a limit on where I can put it.
A reasonable router with Wireless Access Point is around £150.00, and the Wireless LAN cards around £40-50 each.

As for cost for cables, just need to cover cost of materials and postage. Once you've measured up, email me (cat5@your-imagination.com) and I'll sort them for you.
Do what my mate did and buy a load of CAT5 cable, a crimp tool (about £10) and some RJ-45 plugs £2 for 20 or so all off ebay. Then just make cables to whatever length you want. All you got to do is look up the pinouts on the net and ur sorted - piece of ****.

hee hee
that's what I did
needed two 50 metre runs, and some patch cables. cheapest way to do it was to buy a 300m cable reel for 20quid and make them up - I'm still giving free cables to everyone I know!

How Many pc's do you wan't to network,
If you are just connecting 2 machines you could just use a crossover cable to connect the 2,
If you have more than 2 pc's you will need a hud/switch, which will be best placed centrally between all machines, with a normal cat5 cable coming from the hub/switch for each machine...
This will alloy as many pc's as you wan't to connect to each other, dependent on how may ports the hub/switch has...

Because for £30 you can make learn how to make them yourself, make them to the desired length whenever you want and probably make the money back selling them to work mates.
