Reading the price promise on a Barclay Card it looks like you can buy something and upto 60 days later get a refund if its cheaper at another retailer.

Now if this works for computer parts you can buy something at release and then allow for the natural price drops to take effect and claim the difference back! Has anyone done this?

If that works thats an awesome way to blag new hardware right away rather than waiting for the price drop.

Are you sure it doesn't mean they will refund the difference, upto 60 days later, if you found the same item cheaper at the time of original purchase.

I agree, if it works the way you say it does, it's a great way to fund new technology, then once the price has dropped get some of your money back.

Has anyone here ever managed to get a refund with this scheme, and if so under what circumstances?

Yup, you get the difference refunded, this could be amazing for buying newly released products!

Yep works well..I know it works cos my brother got 30 quid cashback when he found out he could of bought hes PS2 cheaper somewhere else.

Btw don't forget you pay quite alot monthly interest with a Barclay card but atleast they offer loads of benefits.

Not planning on paying any interest, can clean the amount off and then claim the difference!

I've claimed a couple of things back - you just need to get a quote on header paper etc. and provide your receipt.

Not sure about the high interest bit 5.9% fixed for life on balance transfers and purchase are 9.9%. Haven't found a cheaper one.

Also, they beat any car insurance quote. And you get free insurance on most products aswell.

Right, where's my commisiion mr. BC

Yes, the price promise does work - I've used it several times, and not for small items either.

The best bit is that you can buy something from a High St store (where you obviously get to take it home the same day), then spend the time much later on to find out the cheapest you could have had it for on the net. When you find a better price, just print out the relevant page from the web site and send it off along with your receipt and c/c bill.

Andy.

Right definitely getting one just for funding new computer purchases etc!

Can you claim this price difference back on internet purchased products also? Anyone confirm?

Yes, internet purchases are covered. You just have to be sure that you're comparing exactly the same spec - sometimes tricky with computer products, where specs change as often as the prices. Just be sure that the receipt and proof of the lower price both state the same product name and you should be fine.

Question

I have a Platinum Barclaycard - is this service free or do you have to pay a premium for it?
