I used to think my Dell Inspiron 4000 battery was pretty good. Fully charged it would indicate 4 hours + of life but the realirty is way less.

I have been a good boy and cycle it all the time so I'm fairly confident that it's still healthy (2 years old now).

Someone at work said running two batteries at the same time is worth considering. He says that 1 + 1 = > 2 in this case because they share the load and somehow this suits them and they last longer.

Any truth in that?

Any suggestions where to buy a second one?

Cheers,

Question

Funny you should ask this - I just added a second battery to my Inspiron 8200. I charged both up yesterday and ran them last night - normally one battery gives just under 2 hours. With 2 it indicated 4.5 hours - but I didnt run it out.

I'll keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

My Latitude is 20 months old and it hd a new battery 3 or 4 months go. The old one would only last 20 minutes by the end.

Waxboy here...

Thanks for that link.

Still nothing on 1 + 1 = >2 theory but some consensus that PC laptop batteris are poo.

What a pain to take the battery out if you are running of AC to avoid 'over-charging'...

Over charging, in both the eletronic and fiscal senses, seems to be a problem with all laptop batteries!
