Question

I've just bought some 90min / 800Mb cd-r discs and my writer doesn't want to play ball accepting the size (I want to burn some 740Mb-ish files so can't get them on cd-r 80's )

It seems to default to 703Mb max size - is this due to the physical setup of the writer (Yamaha 8x4x24 SCSI) as I've altered the overburn figures in Nero (to set them to 90 mins) and the capacity bargraph - it alters the status bar limits but doesn't pick them up for the capacity...

Help or have I dropped another spherical object and risk trashing the writer

Try different types of CD copier software. I use Medea 80min disks that hold 730mb with Nero or Golden Hawk Technology's CDRWIN with no issues to report. But haven't tried the 800mb disks.

I've just found a pdf file on Nero's website about overburning so have set things up and am trying it at the mo... will see how I get on - lets see if I can add to the coaster pile

I have used 90 min CDs for a while with no problems and actuall can write 98 mins of audio to mine with the Mitsumi burner i have. All the CDRs play on every audio cd player i have ever put them in (Technics, Pioneer car, Alpine car, Pioneer and Denon professional).

Make sure in the Preferences, Expert Features bit you set the Max CD Length to 90 min (mine is 99 )

I also use Padus Discjuggler to write 98 min audio CDs with no problems. I use Infiniti 90 (99) min CDRs from SVP Communications.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info - it seems to have worked OK

The Nero instructions say to set the length to 92mins for a cdr90 which might be pushing it a bit so I'll try the next one at 90mins

Hopefully, I can clear up some HD space now...
