Camera is great, and transfers images to the computer using the dedicated software, but when an application uses the (up to date) Canon TWAIN driver, on connecting to the camera the task locks up and has to be killed whilst trying to acquire images.
Spec of the machine is high, latest SP on W2K etc. Disconnecting my dodgy cheap scanner doesn't help either!
Any hints?

Not sure if it has anything to do with your problem, but i had a cam and mine to would lock up like yours. I had to go to my motherboards website and download the latest USB drivers and this sorted it out.

John,
Try updating the USB drivers as suggested. I can't offer much help other than my Canon S40 connects with no problems including navigating it just using windows explorer.
Not much help

John,
I had a search on google's groups and on the Canon support site but their seems squat all info on your problem The only thing people seemed to mention was un-installing s**t loads of stuff and re-installing again. Have you tried emailing their tech support?
