You probably have a firewall that's blocking adverts. On Scoobynet, it's spotting "adid" in the URLs and blocking them.

If it is this, you'll also see that the 'Add to VIP List' and 'Add to Favoureites' links are missing.

You can either turn off ad blocking, or set a specific rule to allow "adid" for scoobynet.co.uk. Are you using Norton Firewall 2002?

Trout,

Do you have the java virtual machine still installed? If you did a brand new load rather than an upgrade you may not have java virtual machine. Microsoft stopped allowing downloads of it from their website as well. It allows javascripts to run, but not sure if if Scoobynet uses these for the ads e.t.c.

If you need it I can send a CD to you, as it's 5 Mb and I'm only on 56k (can't get broadband yet).

Tony

JUST CHECKED THE ADS..THEY USE JAVASCRIPT, So it could be this?

OK - it gets worse...

...since upgrading to XP I have lost all use of MSN...

...however it has impacted Scoobynet

When I post I get a hung white screen

When I view posts I cannot see a 'REPLY' button (a good thing some of you might say!)

I have no idea what configuration issues are causing this!

Bizarre!

Any hlep very much appreciated.

Just to further clarify, the "adid" bit gets spotted on the end of "threadid". Norton Firewall 2003 doesn't seem to block this in its default setup though.
